Michael and Elizabeth were now planning a wedding. They had decided to make it a small wedding with family and close friends. Elizabeth's parents had suggested that Elizabeth and Michael used their house in Switzerland because it had all sorts of space and it had every amenity you could possibly need for a huge party and it was totally private. Elizabeth and Michael decided that might be a good idea and so that was where they would get married. The wedding was going to be in the spring which was about two months away. Michael and Elizabeth had been slowly getting a few things in order so even though two months was not a long time everything would be in order by the time the wedding was to happen. The photographer, minister, and the wedding coordinator were all situated and all of the decorations, flowers and everything else was all finalized very easily. Everything seemed to be going just as planned and that was what Elizabeth and Michael wanted.

Michael and Elizabeth both could hardly wait to become husband and wife. It was an exciting time and it had been a long hard road for both of them to get here but they were on their way.

2 Months later

Today was Elizabeth's wedding day and she was actually very calm but Michael was a nervous wreak. He was pacing all around the room he was waiting in with Bob and a couple of his buddies. They were all trying to calm him down but nothing was working. Meanwhile Elizabeth, Ally, Debbie, Hilary and Elizabeth's mom, Melinda, were all just sitting around and talking about everything and anything. Michael's other sister, Whitney and her husband were watching James and their own children in the main room where the wedding was going to take place. Other friends and family were sitting around waiting for the wedding to begin.

Finally the minister and the groomsmen walked into the room with Michael. The mother's were seated and then it was time for the procession. First walked in Hilary and then Ally came in next and after they were all settled it was time for the bride to make her entrance. The wedding planner shut the door so that Elizabeth and her dad could get ready to walk down the aisle.

"Elizabeth you look beautiful and I am so happy that this day is finally happening. I love you and know that you will have an amazing life with Michael" said Elizabeth's dad, James smiling at her.
"I love you too dad and thanks for everything you have done. You are an amazing person and I am so glad that you are walking me down the aisle today" Elizabeth said as she smiled at her dad and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. Then the wedding planner said it was time for them walk down the aisle. The door opened and the music began and Elizabeth and her dad walked to the front of the room where Michael and the minister were standing. When they got up to Michael, Elizabeth's dad smiled at Elizabeth and gave her a kiss on the cheek and then gave her hand to Michael. Michael smiled at Elizabeth's dad and then looked at Elizabeth and smiled even bigger as he took her hand in his hand.

"Michael do you take Elizabeth Catherine as your lawfully wedded wife?" asked the minister.
"I do" said Michael smiling brightly at Elizabeth.
"Elizabeth do you take Michael Fred as your lawfully wedded husband?" the minister said looking at Elizabeth.
"I do" said Elizabeth smiling back at Michael.
"Do you have the rings?" asked the priest looking at Michael.
"Yes sir" Michael said as he handed them to the minister.
Michael and Elizabeth exchanged rings and then the minister said, "By the power vested in me by God, I know pronounce you husband and wife and you may kiss your bride."
Michael pulled Elizabeth close to him and kissed her like there was no tomorrow. Then they pulled apart and everyone clapped. Elizabeth and Michael were both laughing and smiling. They walked down to where everyone was and were greeted by hugs from everybody. Elizabeth looked around for her baby and she found him being held by her mother. The reception was lots of fun with everyone dancing, eating and talking and just having an amazing time. Michael and Elizabeth cut their cake and pictures seemed to be taken at every minute.

Finally everyone started heading for where they were staying. Elizabeth and Michael's families and close friends were staying at the house. Elizabeth's parents gave Michael and Elizabeth the pool house for their honeymoon night and were watching baby James for them too and then the next day, Elizabeth and Michael were heading for Greece for a week and a half honeymoon trip. Everyone said goodnight and headed off to their rooms. When Michael and Elizabeth got to the pool house it was decorated and had all sorts of little surprises for the two of them. They were impressed at what her parents had done and it was a very romantic night for the two of them.

Michael smiled at Elizabeth as she was getting ready for bed. He pulled her close to him and then lead her to the bed. He looked at her and she smiled up at him.
He kissed her deeply and then gently layed her down on the bed. Michael helped Elizabeth out of the sexy lingerie that Ally had given her for this night. And Elizabeth helped Michael our of his boxers. Michael started kissing her neck and then he suckled on her breasts and she went crazy. Elizabeth was paying off some bills when she saw Michael credit card bill and noticed something. Michael had lied to her about his trip. He had not gone to Philly but he was in Pittsburgh and Elizabeth was shocked. She had a bad feeling and wondered if Sidney and Michael had had a fight but then she figured it would have been on the news, online or even those wonderful magazines. Elizabeth was furious that he lied so she went to confront Michael about what had happened with Sidney.

"Hey Mikey can we talk?" asked Elizabeth.
"Yeah sweetheart, what's up?" asked Michael patting the seat next to him on the couch.
Elizabeth went and sat down and looked at Michael.
"I noticed something when I was paying off your credit card bill. It said that you stayed in Pittsburgh on your trip not Philadelphia. Can you explain that because you told me you were going to Philly?" Elizabeth said looking confused.
"OK I confess I did not go to Philly and I went to talk to Sidney. I needed to tell him that what he did to you was uncool and that if he ever did that to anyone else I would make his life rough. I am so sorry that I lied to you. Please forgive me. I love you Lizzy" Michael sighed as he pulled Elizabeth to him for a hug.
"I need to know that Sidney is still in one piece and that you did not hurt him."
"No I did not want to fight him because that is not anyway to get something accomplished and anyway why would you be worried that Sidney is ok after he tried to rape you Lizzy?"
"Yeah I know what he tried to rape me but he is a person for god sakes Michael and he made a mistake. We all make mistakes and I think you of all people should understand that. Also I emailed him after a session with my counselor and told him that he needs to get help and I wanted to see if he would take responsibility for what he did to me. And he emailed me back and said that he was talking to someone and said that he knew it was his fault for what happened that night" Elizabeth said.
"You emailed Sidney?" said a quite surprised Michael.
"Yeah my counselor suggested that I do it because it would help in my healing process and I think she was right because since Sidney took responsibility then its all on his shoulders and I don't have to feel guilty anymore for thinking I did something wrong" Elizabeth said as tears filled up her eyes.
"Oh Lizzy you shouldn't feel guilty about that night. You did nothing wrong except be a friend to someone you trusted" Michael said as he held Elizabeth tightly too him as she cried. Michael kissed the top of her head. Elizabeth finally calmed down just as they heard James babbling in the monitor.

"I will take care of him Lizzy you just sit and chill out here" Michael said as he gave Lizzy a quick kiss and then got up to take care of James.
A few minutes later Michael and James came out and went over to sit with Elizabeth.
They sat together and James charmed his way into his mother's arms. Elizabeth could not help and be happy when she saw her baby boy who was getting bigger by the minute. It was so surprising at all the changes James was making after all this time. He had been through so much just like she and Michael had but they seemed to make things work as a family which is what counts in the end.

That night as Elizabeth was lying in Michael's arms in bed, she thought about how life gave you so many adventures some good some bad but as long as you had people who loved you and you loved back then life was good. She snuggled closer to Michael and he held her tightly and they fell asleep in each others arms.

Elizabeth kinda kept to herself after what had happened to her when she had gone to see Sidney. Michael gave her space but was there for her when she needed and wanted to talk. Elizabeth met with a counselor because she wanted to talk with someone who was not directly connected with her or her assault situation. Elizabeth felt that she was given great advice and was realizing that what had happened was not her fault but Sidney's issue.

Michael decided without Elizabeth knowing that he needed to go and have a chat with Sidney up in Pittsburgh. Michael told Elizabeth that he had a sponsor meeting up in Philadelphia and that he would be gone for a few days. Elizabeth told him to have a good trip and that she and James would miss him.

Michael was on the airplane and figuring out his plan of attack. He had gotten plenty of information on where Sidney would be the next few days thanks to a contact. Michael could not wait to 'surprise' Sidney and make sure Sidney never hurt another girl ever. Of course Michael knew that Sidney had teammates that would be on Sidney's side but Michael was not out to ruin Sidney just make sure he knew how you treat friends. Finally Michael got to Pittsburgh and headed to his hotel to go and make a visit to the famous Sidney Crosby.

Michael got to Mellon Arena and headed towards the inside of the arena. Michael found the ice area and saw the guys practicing. He headed over to where he saw someone who looked like they knew the guys.

"Hey I am.." Michael tried to say but the other person looked at him and was in shock.
"Oh my god your Michael Phelps! Oh my god" the young lady screamed. Michael was not ready for that reaction but he got it because of who he was which sometimes was annoying like now.
"Yeah I was really hoping that you could get Sidney Crosby for me. I really need to talk with him. Is that possible?" asked Michael.
"Oh yeah sure no problem. Hold on a second and I will get him for you, Michael" the young lady said enthusiastically as she ran over to some man and he went and got Sidney off the ice. Sidney skated over to where the young lady was and she pointed at Michael and Sidney looked over and shuddered. Sidney thank the girl and then walk slowly over to where Michael was and took a deep breath.

"Hey Michael, how are you doing?" asked Sidney looking kinda scared.
"I am fine. Is there someplace we can chat that is not quite so public?" asked a ticked off Michael.
"Yeah we can head over to the locker room" Sidney suggested thinking that there were trainers around and they would save him if Michael wanted to get violent. So Michael and Sidney headed to the locker room to talk. When they got in there Michael turned to look at Sidney.

"I think you know why I am here Sidney. I really wonder what you were thinking when you decided to try and rape my fiance. I hope that you know that is very uncool especially when she thought you guys were friends. And Elizabeth is a very good judge of character and actually in some ways idolized you because you are an amazing hockey player. If I ever hear that you try and hurt another woman I will personally make sure that you are publicly disgraced. Do you understand me? And please don't ever try to contact Elizabeth ever again. Now if she contacts you for some weird reason you had better be a gentleman and treat her with respect. You got me Sidney?" Michael lectured as he stared Sidney down.
"Yes I understand and I am truly and completely sorry for what I did to Elizabeth and she is amazing person and I really did not mean to do what I did. I value her friendship and hope at some point she and I can hopefully work something out someday. I am so sorry. I know that does not excuse my behavior but I am sorry and will never ever hurt anyone like that again. I disgraced my family, friends and team" Sidney said looking down at the ground.
"I really hope you feel bad for hurting Elizabeth. That was all I came here for so have a good rest of the day Sidney" Michael said as he left the locker room and headed back to his hotel. Sidney followed Michael out and watched him walk out of the arena. Sidney went back to practice and when his teammates asked what Michael Phelps wanted with him he said it was just some personal business and practice continued.

The next day Michael was back at home in Baltimore and Elizabeth was never the wiser as to why Michael had gone out of town.

James was being his cute little self in his stroller while Elizabeth and Ally were out shopping for Elizabeth's wedding dress. The manager at the store was totally making sure Elizabeth's wishes were being met because when the manager found out who the groom was she told everyone to treat Elizabeth as a VIP. Of course Elizabeth did not like being treated better than anyone else because of who she was marrying.

"Hey Ally come here please" Elizabeth asked her best friend.
"Yeah want do you want Mrs. VIP" joked Ally with a sly grin on her face.
"Oh give that a rest, Ally. I am so not any more special than you or anyone here in this store" said a annoyed Elizabeth as she turned around to get Ally to help her with a zipper of the dress she had just tried on and decided against.
"Sorry Liz. I just could not resist. Here try this one I think it will look amazing on you" Ally said as she helped Elizabeth and then handed her the new dress.
"Thanks Ally. Hey is my little guy doing ok out there?" asked Elizabeth.
"Yeah James is charming all the ladies out there just like his dad. He is fine Liz. I am entertaining him with the toys you brought. Don't worry."
"Oh good grief my son is already charming the ladies" Elizabeth laughed as she took the new dress and went to try it on. Ally walked the few steps over to where James was and laughed as she saw James entertaining the clerks in the store.
As Elizabeth was trying on the dress she heard her cell phone beep. She had heard it ring a few times but she had not been able to get to it so she went over to look and see who had called her. As she looked at the phone she was surprised to see that Sidney had tired calling her a few times. Elizabeth decided to call him and see what he wanted. Elizabeth dialed Sidney's number and then after two rings he answered.

"Hey Elizabeth how are you?" asked Sidney.
"Hey Sid, I saw that you have called me a few times today and I am sorry that I did not answer my cell phone I have been busy trying on wedding dresses" said Elizabeth.
"That's cool. I was wondering if you would like to have dinner with me after the game on Thursday because I would love to see you" said Sidney.
"Uhm well gosh" stuttered Elizabeth.
"Come on we had fun when you came up here so its just dinner please."
"Fine I will have dinner with you Thursday" Elizabeth said starting to think what in the world am I getting myself into by having dinner with Sidney Crosby.
"Awesome you just made my day Elizabeth. Have a good rest of your day" said Sidney.
"You too Sidney."

Elizabeth was now trying to figure out how was she going to explain that she was going out to dinner with Sidney on Thursday to Michael. Elizabeth decided not to worry about that right now so she looked at herself in the mirror and was quite surprised at the dress that Ally had picked out because it was perfect.

"Hey Ally come take a look at me" smiled Elizabeth as she stepped out of the dressing room in the dress that would be the one she get married in to Michael.
"Holy Moly you look beautiful and perfect" exclaimed Ally.
"I think we have a winner here" joked Elizabeth as she twirled around.
"Hold on and let me take some pictures of you."
"OK Ally" Elizabeth said as she went over to see James and smiled at him.
"Pose for me Elizabeth" Ally laughed as she took several pictures of Elizabeth in the dress.

After they took care of getting the dress and a few other things the three of them headed to the car and went home. Elizabeth, Ally and James got back to the condo and luckily for them Michael was at practice. Elizabeth went and hid the dress in a closet that Michael knew was only for Elizabeth and wedding things he was not allowed to see. Then Elizabeth took James into the nursery and changed him and fed him and then put him down for nap. Ally had busied herself by hanging out in the office room. Elizabeth found her there and decided to tell her about her phone conversation with Sidney.

"Ally I gotta tell you something. Sidney called me several times today not that I really was paying any attention to my phone."
"Oh so did you find out what hottie Sidney wanted" asked Ally.
"Yeah I finally called him back to see what he wanted. And he convinced me to have dinner with him on Thursday and I am going to the game as his guest. Man how am I going to tell Michael that I am going out with Sidney? God what was I thinking?"
"You were thinking that it would be nice to have dinner with a good friend. And as for Michael well I don't know what to say other than he will be ok because I hope."
"Ally I kissed Sidney for god's sake and true Michael was cool with everything because he screwed up too but I have a weird feeling about Thursday. Hopefully I am not being overly worried."
"Hey Sidney's a good guy and don't worry after all its just dinner and seeing him play his game. God I want to so be you on Thursday. I am so jealous of you Elizabeth" Ally said as she smiled dreamily thinking of Sidney all sweaty after a game.
"OH I know that face on you Ally and stop picturing Sidney naked. Good Lord you need help or a man and not Sidney because I would feel bad of him" Elizabeth said as she smack Ally on the arm.
"Ouch that hurt and you so suck right now because Sidney would so love me and my craziness. Anywho I do have Cameron and we are happy."
"Yeah you and Cameron are friends with benefits and you treat him so badly sometimes Ally. I think that he wants more and you aren't sure. Do you love Cameron, Ally?" asked Elizabeth seriously.
"Man Elizabeth why are we getting so deep here now? Yeah I know I treat Cameron bad and I think its because I am scared of what could happen with him. So yeah I guess I do love him" confessed Ally.
"Tell him before its too late. I just want you to be happy too Ally. I love you" Elizabeth said as she hugged Ally.
"Thanks Liz, I love you too and I will talk to Cameron tonight. Now back to the real important stuff as in that gorgeous hottie hockey player friend of yours, Sidney Crosby."
"I guess I am just gonna tell Michael and he will have to deal with it."

Just then the door to the condo opened and Michael walked in looking gorgeous as always after having been swimming and working out.

"Hey Lizzy are you here" Michael called out.
Elizabeth ran into the living area and gave Michael and hug and kiss.
"Shhh James is sleeping" Elizabeth said smiling at Michael.
"Sorry" whispered Michael.
"Hey Michael what's happening?" Ally asked as she walked into the room.
"Hey Ally nothing much. What about you?" Michael asked as he put his arm around Elizabeth's shoulders.
"Not much Michael just hanging out here with your fiance."
"That's cool so what did you two do today?"
"Actually I found my wedding dress. And its perfect and you can't see it until the wedding" Elizabeth grinned at Michael.
"Yeah ok so I am guessing that closet it still off limits to me" joked Michael.
"Yeah sorry dude" Elizabeth said.
"OH well its all good" Michael said.
"Well guys I think I am outta here so I will talk to you later Elizabeth. Laters you two" Ally said as she left the condo.
"Hey Elizabeth sweetheart where would you like to go to dinner tonight? I was thinking Italian is that cool with you?" asked Michael.
"Yeah sure fine" Elizabeth said absentmindedly.
"Something is bothering you Lizzy so spill it now."
"While I was out shopping today Sidney called me but I did not get the call because I was kinda busy. Anywho so I called him back and he wants me to go to his game on Thursday and then have dinner with him. I hope you don't mind."
"Actually I do have a problem with that Lizzy because of what happened between you two in Pittsburgh. So I really don't want you to go but if you already told him yes them I am not going to stop you" Michael said extremely annoyed.
"I know you would not be happy about this but he is a good friend and nothing is going to happen like last time, I promise."
"I know Lizzy and I trust you" Michael said as he kissed Elizabeth's temple.

That evening Michael, Elizabeth and James went out for dinner as a family and when they got home they just chilled out. The next few days went by and Michael was training and Elizabeth was working on wedding plans and other things. Finally it was Thursday and Elizabeth was getting ready for the hockey game and then dinner with Sidney. She was kinda excited but still had a strange feeling about what in the world was she doing. Michael came into the bedroom as Elizabeth was getting her things ready.

"You got everything you need sweetheart?" asked Michael.
"Yeah I am ready to go" Elizabeth said and then went over to Michael and gave him a kiss. Michael pulled her closer to him and held her tight.
"I love you Lizzy and have lots of fun."
"I will and I wonder when this car that is supposed to pick me up is getting here?" Elizabeth pondered.
Then just as Elizabeth said that there was a knock at the door. Elizabeth and Michael went to the door and opened it.

"I am looking for Miss Matthews" said the gentleman at the door.
"I am her" Elizabeth said.
"I am your driver that Mr. Crosby hired to take you to Verizon Arena. Are you ready to go Miss Matthews?"
"Yes I am. Michael I love you and you and James be good" smiled Elizabeth as she leaned up for a kiss that Michael gladly accepted.
"Love you too Lizzy" said Michael.
Then Elizabeth and the driver left for the hockey game. During the ride to the Verizon Arena Elizabeth just relaxed and tried to think of how much fun it was going to be seeing a hockey game live and thanks to Sidney. They got to the arena and Elizabeth was taken into a VIP entrance and then was escorted to a waiting area. She was told by an usher that Sidney wanted to see her before the game. So she sat on a couch in the waiting area and looked at a magazine on the table near her.

"Hey Elizabeth how was your trip here?" Sidney said as he walked over to her and smiled.
"It was very nice and thanks for sending a car for me. That was really not necessary but very sweet of you."
"Hey I would do anything for you because you are a great friend. I really am glad that you came and can't wait to have dinner with you and talk more. I have to get ready but I just wanted to say hi before the game starts" Sid said as he gave Elizabeth a hug. She hugged him back and then Sid kiss her on the temple which surprised her more.
"OK Sid good luck with the game and I will see ya in a little while" Elizabeth said as she left for her seat which happen to be a suite just for her thanks again to Sidney. The game did not go well for Sidney and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Sidney even got into a fight and the Washington team won the game. Elizabeth wondered how Sidney would be after a bad loss and fight. She tried not to think about it and went back down to the waiting area that Sidney had told her to meet him at when the game was over. She waited for about half an hour and Sidney walked over to her and Elizabeth looked up at him and smiled.

"Hey it was a hard fought game Sidney" Elizabeth said as she stood up.
"Hmmmm so listen I am not really in the mood to go out to dinner would you mind if we just went to my hotel room and got room service?" asked Sidney.
Elizabeth was not too keen on that idea but she was hungry so she nodded her head and they headed off to find the driver. They got back to the hotel and Sidney and Elizabeth headed up to Sidney's room. When they got in Sidney went straight to find a menu and they looked it over and then called in their order. While they waited for the food Sidney and Elizabeth talked about this and that and then the topic of the kiss came up and Sidney pulled Elizabeth closer to him on the bed where they were sitting. Elizabeth tried to move away but Sidney would not let her go. She struggled and it just seemed to make Sidney more insistent on what he was doing. Sidney kissed her a little harder and he pulled her shirt over off and then he took of his shirt. Elizabeth was fighting Sidney and telling him to stop but he was not listening. Elizabeth was thinking in the back of her mind that I am not going to let him hurt me I will stop him.

"Let go of me Sidney. Stop do you hear me Stop" yelled Elizabeth as she tired to push Sidney off of her but he was too strong.
"Elizabeth you know this is something we both know should be happening between us. That kiss we shared back in Pittsburgh meant something to you and I know it."
"No Sidney that kiss was an accident and should not have happened. I was upset and was going through a tough time so don't you dare make it into something else. We are just friends and I love Michael and will be marrying him very soon" Elizabeth said and pushed Sidney off of her and she stood up and got her shirt and put it back on but then Sidney stood up and grabbed Elizabeth and pulled her back down onto the bed. Elizabeth struggled but Sidney got on top of her again he started kissing on Elizabeth and she continued to struggle against him. Then Elizabeth slapped Sidney and that ticked Sidney off even more and then he tried to force himself on her but Elizabeth used the last of her energy and kneed Sidney's family jewels. Sidney moved off of Elizabeth at that moment and then she got up and fixed her clothes and grabbed her bags and ran out of the room. Elizabeth headed to the elevator and then to the lobby and ask the doorman to get her a taxi which he did and she headed back to Michael.

When Elizabeth got home she ran up to the condo and opened the door quickly. When she rushed in Michael looked up surprised because she was crying.

"Lizzy what's the matter?" Michael asked worriedly.
"Sidney tried to...to.." Elizabeth just fell into Michael's arms and cried. Michael held her close and got seriously pissed off.
"Its ok baby its ok. Tell me what happened."
"Sidney tired to force himself on me and I fought him so he did not get anywhere but he tried" Elizabeth finally said after taking a breath.
"That bastard I am so sorry baby. I am here if you want to talk. I love you and you are safe with me you know right?"
"Yeah I know you will protect me and I love you too" Elizabeth said as she held onto Michael tightly.

The rest of the evening Michael and Elizabeth talked about what had happened. Elizabeth realized that she was extremely stronger than she ever thought she was and her life might be crazy but she had an amazing fiance in Michael and beautiful son and great parents. Elizabeth knew that anything else that came her way she could handle it with no problems. That night when she went to bed she snuggled close to Michael and slept peacefully.

Elizabeth and Ally got home from Pittsburgh on Monday and both were exhausted from a long yet very fun girl's weekend. Ally dropped Elizabeth off and then Ally headed home herself. When Elizabeth got into the condo she knew she had to talk to Michael about what she had done with Sidney while on her trip. Elizabeth knew that Michael would probably be seriously upset and she could not blame him one little bit. She found Michael in the office of their condo. He was playing poker online which was not a shock to Elizabeth at all.

"Hey I'm back" said Elizabeth.
Michael looked up at her for a sec and said, "Hi" and then went back to his poker game.
"All I get is a 'hi' from you" Elizabeth said looking at him with a shocked expression.
"Hold on a sec Lizzy" Michael said as he was concentrating hard on his game.
Elizabeth left the office and went into the bedroom to unpack and then check on James. She went into the nursery and saw James sleeping peacefully in his crib. She had seriously missed him and was not traveling again without her baby ever. Elizabeth touched his chubby cheeks and smiled at James. He was so adorable and perfect and god he was really starting to look extremely like Michael. Then all of a sudden Elizabeth felt an arms come around her waist and she looked up to see Michael standing next to her.

"OK now welcome home beautiful" Michael said as he kissed Elizabeth's cheek.
"Now that's better" laughed Elizabeth then she turned in Michael's arms so she could face him.
"How was your girl's weekend with Ally? How was the game and Sidney?" asked Michael.
"There is something I need to tell you. Let's go into the den" Elizabeth said as she took Michael's hand and they walked out of the nursery. Michael had a weird feeling and hoped that whatever Elizabeth was going to tell him was not going to be bad news. They sat down on the couch and Elizabeth looked at Michael and took a deep breath and then starting talking.

"Michael I kissed Sidney and then realized it was a mistake and that is when I called you and you know that you are the only one for me and I love you. I am so sorry. I need you to forgive me because I would do anything to make things right with us" pleaded Elizabeth looking at Michael with tears in her eyes.
"Wow but I can not be totally surprised that you kissed Sidney. I know you guys are friends and I did something stupid while you were gone too. I ran into of all people Amanda Beard. She was in town for some photo shoot thing and called me and we went out to dinner. I was still upset with you and so when I went back to her hotel with her. And we just kissed too but I think she was trying for more and then I realized that she is not what makes me happy. I need you and only you. So I can forgive you if you can forgive me Elizabeth. I love you too" Michael said.
"Michael I forgive you" Elizabeth said smiling at Michael.
"I forgive you too Lizzy. You mean the world to me and I am not losing you ever" Michael said leaning towards Elizabeth for a kiss that she happily accepted.
"Hey I think you and I need to start planning a wedding. What do you think dude?" asked Elizabeth with a huge smile on her face.
"I think that you are right and I can't wait for you to be my wife, Lizzy" Michael said smiling back at Elizabeth as he layed her down on the couch and kissed her again. Elizabeth pushed at his chest and looked at Michael and just laughed and said, "Dude what do you think you are doing here?"
"Oh I don't know just trying to see if I can have some fun with my beautiful fiance" laughed Michael.
"Not now dude. I am tired and James will be getting up from his nap soon and then he needs to be fed but I promise tonight I am all yours hot stuff" Elizabeth said seductively. Michael grinned big and said, "I am keeping you to that promise."

Sure enough James started crying and so Elizabeth got up and went and took care of James as Michael went into the kitchen to get some food ready for James. Elizabeth brought James into the kitchen and Michael fed James as Elizabeth watched. The three of them spent some quality time hanging out the rest of the afternoon and early evening as a family. Finally it was time to get James ready for bed and then Michael made sure Elizabeth did not forget her promise. Michael and Elizabeth spent the evening making love and then Elizabeth fell asleep in Michael's arms. Michael watched her sleep for a little while and then he dozed off too.

A few days later Elizabeth was talking with Ally on the phone. Ally had decided that Elizabeth needed to do something to help her forget the loss of her baby. They were planning a trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to see Sidney play. Sidney had told Elizabeth anytime she wanted to come up and see him play he would make sure she could have access to his suite at Mellon Arena.

"I think this is the best medicine you need now Elizabeth. It will be fun to see Sidney in action. Plus he is such a hottie and you are so lucky to be his friend" joked Ally.
"Yeah it will be fun to see Sidney play" said Elizabeth smiling.
"How's Michael dealing with you losing the baby?" asked Ally.
"He is dealing with it pretty well and he is swimming tons too. We kinda talked a little bit about it and its just hard knowing that I was pregnant again so soon after having James. I really wanted that baby, Ally" Elizabeth said as tears started welling up in her eyes and she sniffled.
"Oh sweetie I know this is hard for you. But you and Michael can have a million more babies later on. It just was not that baby's time to be here with you."
"Sorry Ally and I know that you are right. Michael and I can have another baby when its the right time for us. Let me call Sid and let him know that we are coming to the game tomorrow. Talk to you later Ally" said Elizabeth.
"Laters Liz and everything will be ok. We are going on a girl's weekend to see your hottie friend Sidney" said an excited Ally.

After Elizabeth got off the phone with Ally she called up Sidney.

"Hey Elizabeth how are you?" asked Sid.
"Hey Sidney I not doing great right now" said Elizabeth.
"What's going on Elizabeth?"
"I had a miscarriage a short time ago but I am going to be ok from what my doctor said."
"Well I am sorry about your miscarriage Elizabeth but I am glad that the doctor said that you will be ok."
"Yeah I actually am calling to ask if my best friend and I could come and see you play tomorrow? Is that offer about us having your suite at the arena still good?"
"Yeah that offer is good. And I would love to see you Elizabeth."
"Oh awesome, I am excited to see you play."
"Hey Elizabeth do you and your friend have some place to stay because I have plenty of room at my place. If that's ok with you?"
"That sounds good to me Sidney and thank you. I think my friend, Ally, will be thrilled to know that we are staying at your place while we are up there" laughed Elizabeth.
"Oh is Michael coming with you guys?"
"No he is going to stay here to watch James and he has practice that he really can't miss at the moment."
"Oh ok that's cool. I was just curious" said Sidney.
"OK well you will see me and Ally tomorrow and thanks again for everything Sidney" said Elizabeth.
"OK till tomorrow Elizabeth."

As Elizabeth was getting off the phone with Sidney she went into the bedroom to start packing for her girls weekend with Ally. She called Ally back and then Ally said that she would take care of the plane tickets and everything.

A little while later on Michael arrived back at the condo.

"Elizabeth where are you sweetheart? I am home." called out Michael.
"I am in the bedroom, Michael" said Elizabeth.
Michael walked into the bedroom to see Elizabeth packing a suitcase. He looked at her with a worried expression.
"What's going on here? Where are you going?" asked Michael.
"Ally and I are having a girls weekend up in Pittsburgh to see Sidney play" said Elizabeth.
"Oh ok" said a surprised Michael.
"Ally feels that I need to get away because of the miscarriage and I think she is right. I really hope you don't mind and obviously you are going to have to take care of James while I am gone."
"Yeah no I don't mind taking care of our son. It might be fun to have a boy's weekend anyway."
"Thanks Michael. I really appreciate you being understanding about all of this."
"When are you two leaving?"
"Tomorrow morning and we will be back on Monday afternoon" said Elizabeth.
"OK well I hope that you have fun Lizzy" Michael said as he leaned in for a kiss but Elizabeth moved away.
"Lizzy why are you not letting me kiss you? What's the deal?" asked a very confused Michael.
"I don't know. Sorry" Elizabeth said as she turned to go and get something out of the closet.
"Whatever Lizzy. I think I will sleep in the spare room tonight since you are seriously confusing the crap out of me. I know we lost a baby but I thought things were....I don't know anymore. I give up" said a very mad and ticked off Michael.

That night Michael and Elizabeth ignore each other and went to bed separately. The next day Ally picked up Elizabeth and they were off to see Sidney while Michael took care of James. Elizabeth did give James a kiss on his chubby cheeks an told him she would miss him and loved him. Then she looked at Michael and kissed him quickly on the lips and said that she would call him when they were in Pittsburgh.

Ally and Elizabeth got through the airport and then finally were headed to Pennsylvania. The flight was actually boring which was good and they finally got to Pittsburgh. Then the girls maneuvered through Pittsburgh International Airport to surprising see Sidney waiting for them at the baggage claim.

"Sidney oh my god you came to pick us up. How sweet of you do this for us" Elizabeth said as she gave Sidney a hug.
"Anything for my number one fan" smiled Sidney as he hugged Elizabeth back tightly.
Elizabeth pulled back so that she could introduce Ally to Sidney.
"Sidney this is my best friend Ally. Ally this is Sidney Crosby" smiled Elizabeth.
"Oh my god I am so excited to meet you and I am fan too" Ally said enthusiastically.
"Its nice to meet you Ally. You guys ready to go and get settled before the game?" asked Sidney as he looked at Elizabeth.
"Yeah we are ready. Let's go" said Elizabeth.

They headed to Sidney's Range Rover and headed to Sidney's house. It was a nice place. Sidney gave the girls a tour and showed them where they would stay while they were visiting. He let them get settled into their rooms. Sid had given a Elizabeth a room near his bedroom and Ally was on the other side down the hallway.

A few hours later Elizabeth and Ally were hanging out in Sidney's suite at Mellon Arena while Sidney was getting ready for the game. The girls had a great time watching the game and cheering on the Penguins. They were playing the Carolina Hurricanes. Sidney was playing really well and Elizabeth was totally impressed and having a great time. The Penguins won the game with a score of 4 to 2. Sidney actually got a hat trick. Elizabeth was happy for Sidney and his hat trick of 3 goals. She knew he would be in a great mood afterwords and it made her happy too. Ally was right this was so something that Elizabeth needed now.

When the game was over the girls met Sidney and they headed back to his house. They got home and Ally said that she was exhausted and was going to go to bed. Sidney and Elizabeth told her good night and they would see her in the morning. Meanwhile Sidney suggested that he and Elizabeth hang out in his room and just talk. So that's what they did. They were sitting on Sid's bed talking about this and that when out of no where Sid leaned over and kissed Elizabeth. She accepted the kiss because Sidney was being so sweet to her and seemed really concerned about how she was doing unlike Michael. Sidney gently lowered Elizabeth so that they were more comfortable and they continued to kiss. Sidney's hands were moving along Elizabeth's sides and when his hand started under her shirt she stopped him.

"Sidney please stop. We should not being doing this. I am sorry because I let you kiss me and I kissed you back, sorry" said a totally confused Elizabeth.
"Hey its ok Elizabeth. I should not have kissed you but you looked so sad and I just wanted to make you feel better. I know that you are engaged and I hope that things will not be weird around us. I am so sorry too. You are a great woman and Michael is a lucky lucky guy" Sidney said as he smiled at Elizabeth.
"Thanks Sidney and yeah I still want to be your friend. You are an awesome guy and if I was not with Michael I so would want to be with you" Elizabeth said as she kissed Sidney's cheek.
"Good night Sidney."
"Good night Elizabeth."

Elizabeth headed to her room and got ready for bed. Elizabeth pulled out her cell phone and called Michael.

"Hello Elizabeth. How's your trip going?" asked Michael.
"Michael I love you more than anything else in the world. I want to be with you and no one else. After this trip I want to be with you and do everything with you. I love you. I am so sorry I have been crazy lately. Do you forgive me and do you love me?"
"Elizabeth I love you more than anything else in this world and I forgive you as long as you forgive me too."
"I forgive you and love you so much. I want to be married to you and want us to be the best parents to James and be a family!"
"I want all of that too Elizabeth."
"Good I feel like everything now makes sense. God I don't want to lose you Michael ever! I know I keep saying this but I love you always and forever!"

Saturday finally came and Michael was busy cleaning the condo for the return of Elizabeth and baby James. He could not wait to have them home for good. He knew that Elizabeth wanted things to go slower with them so he was cool with that. Michael was not completely sure when they would be her so when he finished cleaning he sat down in front of the tv and chilled out. About an hour later Michael heard the door open and he pop up from the couch to see Elizabeth struggling with James and her bags. He ran straight over and helped her by taking James out of her arms.

"Thanks Michael."
"No problem Lizzy. God I am so happy to see you" Michael said leaning down to give Elizabeth a kiss that she returned completely. Then James started to babble and they both smiled at him and kissed him on his chubby cheeks. Michael walked over and put James down in his playpen and then pulled Elizabeth next to him and hugged her tightly.
"God do you know how happy I am right now Lizzy. More than you will ever know. I love you so much and promise to do whatever you want with us" Michael then kissed her on the top of her head.
"Yeah I am happy to be back home. I miss you too but I really needed time to think about life and us."
"I know that I rushed a lot of things with the engagement and everything but we will take our time this go around."
"Agreed totally Michael. Wow you cleaned the condo. I will have to remember that you can clean once in a while and are good at it" laughed Elizabeth snuggling closer to Michael as he held her.
"Hey I have lots of hidden talents in all sorts of areas" Michael said as he waggled his eyebrows.
"Good grief Michael and you can forget thinking what you are thinking because you promised to go slow."
"Yeah I know slow. But maybe once in a while I might get lucky" joked Michael.
"Yeah once in while dude" chuckled Elizabeth.

Things were calm and slow for the next few weeks which was what Elizabeth wanted. Michael was at practice a lot and she was back to working on her job as Michael assistant. They hung out and did the family thing and spent time with her parents and his mom and sisters. James was getting bigger and it was amazing to Elizabeth and Michael at all the changes a baby makes during his first year of life. Michael had been thinking about how Elizabeth had been saying all along that she wanted to take things slow and was wondering if there was something more going on than she was admitting so he decided to talk to her.

"Lizzy can you come here please" called Michael from the bedroom.
"Yeah hold on a sec let me finish changing James and get him ready for his nap."
Elizabeth finished with James and put him down for his nap. She grabbed the baby monitor and headed into the bedroom where Michael was chilling on the bed. He patted the bed beside him and Elizabeth climbed onto the bed and sat next to Michael.
"What's up hot stuff?" asked Elizabeth.
"I was wondering about what you have been saying about us taking things slow. Which we are so why are you so adamant about it?" asked Michael.
"I...uh...well..." Elizabeth was not quite sure how to tell Michael without him getting shocked. She pulled her knees to her chest and rested her arms on her knees and put her chin on her arms and the exhaled the breath she was holding in.
"Elizabeth come on what's going on. We tell each other everything so just spill it now" Michael said looking very concerned at Elizabeth. He pulled her towards him and she let him.
"I was pregnant but I lost it because it was too soon. That is why I want to go slow and take our time with extra curricular bedroom activities."
"Oh Elizabeth I am so sorry" Michael pulled her close and held her tightly. "I love you even more sweetheart" as tears filled his eyes. That made Elizabeth cry too and they just held each other and cried together.
"Lizzy when the time is right we will try again because I would love for us to have another baby."
"I know Michael. I know. I love you and we will get through this even stronger than we are now."
"Absolutely we will. I love you so much Elizabeth after all the insanity I have put you through. You are such an amazing woman and so strong. Don't forget how much you mean to me. Later on that afternoon Michael dropped off Elizabeth and James at her parents house and then headed to the pool for practice. Elizabeth decided to do some laundry and chill out for the afternoon.

When Michael got to the pool he headed in and changed. Then he headed into the pool area where he saw Bob, Katie and his other teammates. They were all getting ready for this afternoons practice. Michael walked over to Bob to see what sort of plan they were working on today.

"Oh good there you are Michael" said Bob looking at Michael and then down at his clipboard.
"Yeah I am here. What's the plan for today's grueling practice?" joked Michael.
"Keep on joking there Michael and it will not be fun for you today" exclaimed Bob.
"Sorry Bob."
"Just get in there and start warming up because I am not going to be easy on you guys because I was nice and gave you the morning off" declared Bob.
Michael dove in and started his laps because he did not want to tick Bob off anymore. They had a pretty serious practice and Bob really was not easy on them but that was good because they needed it.

Finally after practice was over everyone was heading home. They all were exhausted but it had been a great practice. Michael was contemplating going back and hang out with Elizabeth but then he decided against it and went home. He decided to call her and see what she and James were up to. Elizabeth's cell phone rang and she looked at it and saw Michael's name pop up so she answered her phone.

"Hey Michael what's up?"
"Hey beautiful. Not much. Just sitting here in front of the tv watching Sports Center and wishing that my gorgeous fiance was sitting next to me so I can hold her and maybe even make out with her too."
"Poor Michael that sucks that she is not there next to you so that you can make out with her" laughed Elizabeth.
"So....when will you come home? I really miss you and want you and James here with me."
"Actually I was thinking that maybe we might be coming home this weekend. But I still want us to go slow with everything. Is that cool with you, Michael?"
"Yeah Lizzy I am cool with that because I love you and want everything to work out with us."
"Ok then you will see me and James on Saturday. I love you too Michael."
"Oh god I can't wait to have you home. Love ya Lizzy. Good Night"
"Good Night Michael" Elizabeth said as she hung up her phone.

That evening both Michael and Elizabeth both slept really well knowing that they would be together and start over with clean slate because they loved each other always and forever.

The next morning Michael woke up first and decided to let Elizabeth sleep in. He grabbed the baby monitor so that she could sleep and not be bothered if James started crying. Michael headed into the kitchen to get breakfast ready for everyone. James started crying so Michael went and got James out of his crib and changed him. Then they went back into the kitchen to finish breakfast as they walked back into the kitchen Sidney was there pouring himself some coffee.

"Hey good morning" said Sidney.
"Good morning."
"Do you want some coffee, Michael?"
"Yeah that would be great" said Michael as he put James in his seat.
Sidney poured the coffee and handed Michael his cup and then Sidney sat down at the table. Michael went over and sat across from Sidney.
"So Michael listen I know that you were surprised to see me hanging out with Elizabeth yesterday. But she told me what you guys have been going through and I don't want you to you think that I am trying to mess up your relationship ok man"
"Yeah I was quite surprised or should I say pissed off to see her hanging out with another guy while she is trying to figure her life with me."
"Hey I totally understand if Elizabeth was my fiance I would feel the same way in this situation so its all good and I have no intentions toward Elizabeth other than her friend."
"Then we are cool now?" asked Michael.
"Yeah totally cool Michael."
As the guys were finishing their conversation in walked Elizabeth.
"Good Morning guys" said Elizabeth as she went over to the table and say down next to Michael.
"Good Morning sweetheart" Michael said as he leaned in for good morning kiss that Elizabeth accepted.
"What are you two talking about anyway?" asked Elizabeth.
"We cleared the air about yesterday" said Michael.
"Ok that's good to hear" smiled Elizabeth.
"Yeah things are cool" said Sidney.
At that moment James decided he needed attention so he started to making some silly baby sounds. Everyone looked at James and just started laughing. They all ate breakfast and then Sidney had to get ready to leave. They all got ready for the day and then Sidney had to say his goodbyes.

"I had fun hanging out with you Elizabeth as always" smiled Sidney.
"Yeah it was fun getting to see you again. You better not be a stranger ok" said Elizabeth giving Sidney a hug.
"I won't I promise. And it was fun meeting James. He is just so cute and is lucky to have you as his mother."
"Thanks Sidney. Have a safe trip and I will be watching the game tonight and you better score. Got it!"
"I will just for you Elizabeth" laughed Sidney.
"Michael it was good to see you too. And you better take good care of Elizabeth and James."
"Believe me Sidney I plan on it. Have a good trip man."
"Bye guys" Sidney said as he got into his cab and then headed off to the airport

Once Sidney was left they headed back inside the house.
"So Michael do you have practice today?"
"I have a late practice tonight which will be a little bit longer than normal but whatever."
"Oh ok that's cool."
"Do you want to do something before I head to the pool?" Michael asked as he put James down on the floor and sat next to him. Elizabeth sat down too and looked at Michael on the floor.
"What would you like to do?" asked Elizabeth.
"The three of us could go to the mall and just do whatever and maybe get lunch too. Is that ok with you?"
"Sure sounds good to me."
They got ready and headed off to the mall and then went off to have lunch and luckily not too many people paid too much attention to Michael and that was nice for once.

The next day when Michael was at practice, Elizabeth pack up what she needed for herself and James and then headed to her parents house. The drive to her parents was quiet because James had fallen back to sleep as soon as the car started. When Elizabeth got to her parents house, she unpacked the car and took James and put him down so that he could sleep. Then Elizabeth unpacked and then headed to the kitchen for a snack. She knew that that housekeeper had taken care of the grocery shopping and so the kitchen was stocked full of everything. Elizabeth sat at the kitchen table and ate and thought about how this was so weird but she needed some time alone. After a while she decided to go to the pool in the backyard and chill out. She got ready and grabbed the baby monitor and then headed to the pool. It was a beautiful sunny day so it felt good to swim around and just chill out. After a little while she got out of the pool and went and sat on the lounge chair and rested. Her rest was short lived because James started crying and so she got up and went to check on James. She fed him and changed him and decided to bring James outside by the pool. Elizabeth put on James in his swimsuit. She went into the pool with James and they played around for a little while and James loved being dunked and it was so cute. Elizabeth also helped James float while holding him. This was so much fun and James was giggling and totally enjoying the water.

That evening Elizabeth fed and changed James for bed. Then she put him down and stood by his crib and watched him until he went to sleep. Finally when he was asleep Elizabeth went to the bedroom where she was staying and sat on the bed and watched tv for a while and then she fell asleep.

The next few days went pretty much like that with the exception of Elizabeth running an errand or just going to the park with James. She was thinking a lot too about her and Michael. She would go to lunch with Ally and they talked too.
Elizabeth and Michael talked on the phone and he came by regularly to see her and James too. During this time Michael was doing lots of swimming and giving Elizabeth all the time she needed to figure out things because he did not want to rush her.

A couple of days later Michael had shown up at Elizabeth's parents house without Elizabeth knowing. He went to the door and knocked and waited. The housekeeper opened the door.
"Oh Mr. Phelps how are you? Come on in. Elizabeth and James are in the back by the pool. Go on back."
"Thank you."
Michael headed towards the pool. When he got closer and looked out the door he saw Elizabeth, James and some guy playing in the pool. He was thinking who was this guy trying to move in on his family. He thought the guy looked kinda familiar but he was not quite sure. Elizabeth had gotten to know some famous athletes thanks to Michael and all his connections especially hockey players because that was Elizabeth's favorite sport besides swimming. Michael knew she had guy friends and he was cool with that because he had girls who were friends so he could not say too much. But maybe because Elizabeth was trying to figure things out that it made Michael even more jealous of this guy hanging out with her and their son. Michael opened the door and walked out to the pool.
"Hey Elizabeth" Michael called out.
Elizabeth turned and looked to see Michael standing there. She thought to herself, 'God he looks so gorgeous when he is in jealous mode'.
"Hey Michael what are you doing here? I did not know you were coming by to see us" Elizabeth said kinda surprised.
"Well I figured I can come by anytime and see my fiance and son. Can we talk alone please?" Michael said staring at the guy in the pool next to Elizabeth.
"Sure Michael" Elizabeth said as she held James and got out of the pool. They walked back inside the house.
"Who is that guy, Elizabeth?"
"Its just Sidney Crosby" Elizabeth said as she put James in his baby seat. "What is your problem you know he and I have been friends since you introduced us at that sports event a few years ago."
"So here you are trying to figure out us and you are hanging out with Sidney. I know you guys are friends but I have always been suspicious of his motives. I think he likes you more than you know. And he is a guy for god's sakes and you are a beautiful woman and you are practically naked in that swimsuit. I am so glad that I decided to stop by and see you."
"Michael I love you but sometimes you are such a dingbat. And Sidney has no interest in me other than being my friend for the main reason he sees the ring on my hand and he respects that commitment. Anywho he just came to visit because his team is in town for a game tomorrow in Washington. He had a day off and wanted to see me so I was thrilled that my FRIEND wanted to hang out. Now do you want to hang out with us?"
"Yeah actually I would like to hang out."
"Cool now be nice to Sidney or I will be furious."
"I will I swear."
"Good" said Elizabeth as she went to pick up James from his seat but Michael got to him first and picked him up and walked out to the pool. The rest of the afternoon was civil and everyone had fun playing in the pool. That evening they all got ready and went out to dinner. Then when they got back to the house everyone went to their room for bed. Elizabeth agreed to let Michael stay over with her because she knew he would not leave especially with Sidney staying over.

As Michael was getting into bed he looked over at Elizabeth who was reading.
"Hey I am sorry for acting like a jerk earlier about Sidney. Will you forgive me?" Michael said giving her his puppy dog eyes.
Elizabeth looked at Michael and rolled her eyes at him.
"I am thinking about it. But you have got to get over your jealously and know that Sidney and I are ONLY friends."
"I know that now after spending time with him this afternoon. Now we are not supposed to go to bed mad at each other so you have to forgive me Lizzy. I love you" Michael said moving closer to Elizabeth and taking her book away and throwing it on the floor.
"Hey dude I was reading that you know" Elizabeth said jokingly.
"I don't care" Michael said moving so that Elizabeth was slightly underneath him and leaning down to kiss her neck.
"Hey what are you trying to do here Romeo. You think you are going to get lucky or something" laughed Elizabeth.
"Hell yeah I am" Michael smirked and continued kissing on Elizabeth. Elizabeth started giggling and totally giving in to Michael. It was fun and totally unexpected which was nice.

Everything seemed perfect to the outside world for Elizabeth and Michael but Elizabeth realized that things were going a little to fast and she needed some time to think about her life. She loved Michael deeply but she decided that she needed to spend some time away from him for a little while. Elizabeth talked with Michael and this and he was upset because he could not figure out why she needed to get away. Michael believed they had the perfect life.

"Why do you have to leave Lizzy? I don't get it. We love each other and I don't want anyone else but you!"
"I know this is hard to understand Michael but it just hit me that here I am a mom at the age of 23 and engaged. I know it sounds perfect but part of me is confused as maybe we rushed into our life together. I do love you more than anything just let me have some time to think about my life please" begged Elizabeth.
"I don't want you to leave but I understand at needing to figure out your life. I have had lots of things to deal with that make me think about my life too but one thing for sure is that I love you and want you to be my wife when you are ready."
"Thank you for understanding Michael."
"Lizzy are you going to be able to handle being away from James?"
"I am going to take him with me and we are going to stay at my parents house while they are on vacation. I hope you understand and you can get him anytime you wish to ok."
"OK that makes me feel better that you are not really going that far away. And yes I will be coming over to spend time with our son. When are you leaving Lizzy?"
"Tomorrow when you are at practice. That will give me some time to get things organized."
"OK" said Michael and he pulled Elizabeth to him and leaned in for a kiss but Elizabeth pulled back. Michael looked at her confused and then let go of her and walked off. Elizabeth sat down on the floor and leaned her back against the bed and just stared at the wall. She knew things were going to be weird between them but this was what was best for them right now.

Elizabeth and Michael had a zillion people to tell about the engagement. They both were on their phones talking to family and friends. It was crazy yet lots of fun and everyone was thrilled especially Elizabeth's mom. Everyone wanted to know when they were planning the wedding and neither of them had any idea when that would happen but they promised it would. Also during all of this James was officially at home and actually he was a really good baby. Elizabeth and Michael thanked God everyday that James was healthy and at home.

Elizabeth and Michael were learning that being parents was insane but they would not trade it for the world. James was teaching them all sorts of things and it was amazing.

One morning while Michael was at practice, Elizabeth brought James to the pool so they could watch Michael swim and see everyone. Bob was barking out instructions when Elizabeth and James walked into the pool area.

"Ok guys lets keep this moving along. You guys can go so much faster so stop being so slow and move" yelled Bob.
Bob happen to turn at that moment and see Elizabeth and James come over to where he was standing.
"Hey Elizabeth how are you? And look at this little guy. Hey James you are getting so big like your dad" said Bob.
"Hey Bob. Yeah its crazy at how much James looks like Michael. I joke with Mike that he must have actually given birth to James and not me" joked Elizabeth.
Bob laughed and said, "Now there's a scary thought."
"Seriously" laughed Elizabeth.
Michael got out of the pool and went over to where Bob, Elizabeth and James were standing and talking.
"What's so funny over here?" asked Michael.
"Just how much your son looks like you Mike" said Bob.
"Ok whatever" Michael said as he put his arm around Elizabeth's shoulders.
"Whatever back at ya Michael" Elizabeth said sarcastically.
"Anyway what's up with the surprise visit, Liz?" asked Michael.
"No reason just wanted to bring James by and see you and Bob."
"I am glad you did" Michael said and leaned down to give Elizabeth a quick kiss.
"Elizabeth is that you?" called a voice from behind Michael. Everyone turned to see Katie walking toward them.
"Hey Katie" Elizabeth said as she put the baby carrier down to give Katie a hug.
"Is this James?" Katie asked.
Elizabeth picked up James and held him so that Katie could see him.
"Oh Elizabeth he is just so cute and adorable."
"Thanks Katie and boy is he a handful just like his dad" exclaimed Elizabeth looking at Michael and smiling.
"I bet he is and god he looks just like Michael. Now that's a scary thought there" laughed Katie.
"Oh yeah make all the jokes there Katie. You are so funny."
"But its so true Mike sorry I can't help it" laughed Katie.
"Ok guys enough of the talk we need to get back to practice" said Bob.
"Yeah ok. It was fun seeing you Elizabeth and James is so adorable. Thanks for bringing him so we could see him" said Katie.
"Yeah anytime. I need to get James back home anyway its time for his nap" said Elizabeth.
"Good to see you as always Elizabeth" stated Bob.
"Hey Bob I am going to walk Elizabeth to the car."
"OK hurry up though."
"Will do Bob."
Michael walked Elizabeth and James to the car. When they got to the car, Michael helped Elizabeth get James situated in his car seat.
"I guess I will see you two in a little while then" said Michael.
"Yep you will."
"Liz, have I told you today that I love you. Because I do very much!"
"Yes you have but I love hearing it a million times a day. I love you too."
Michael pulled Elizabeth close to him and then kissed her deeply.
Finally Elizabeth drove off and headed home with James asleep in his car seat.
Michael headed back to the pool to continue his workout for the day.

Later that evening Elizabeth, Michael and James had a quiet evening at home. Finally they put James to bed and then Elizabeth and Michael went back into the den and chilled out in front of the tv and watched a movie.

The next several weeks things were kinda calm. Michael went to practice and Elizabeth chilled out at home taking care of James. They decided to take their time on making wedding arrangements for the time being. Michael and Elizabeth decided to have a long engagement and get married when they both were completely rested and recuperated from everything that had happened because of the accident. Elizabeth's parents and Michael's mom were in total agreement that was the best plan for everyone.

A few months later the good news came that James was finally able to come home soon. Michael and Elizabeth were thrilled to hear this and could not wait to bring him home to his nursery. Things were crazy with Michael and Elizabeth getting the house ready for a new baby but it got done. A few days before they brought home James, Michael had set up a surprise date with Elizabeth. She had no idea that Michael was up to anything because she had been so busy getting the nursery ready for James.

"Hey Lizzy you have been in here all day. Let's go and get something to eat because I am starving."
"Fine but I need to change and take a shower before I leave the house, OK" said Elizabeth.
"That works for me and maybe I can join you for a shower" Michael said suggestively pulling Elizabeth to him and kissing her on the neck.
Elizabeth could not resist Michael and they headed to the shower to have some fun.

Finally they got dressed and headed to the restaurant. They were given a private table for two. They enjoyed a nice meal and talked about how life was going to be different now they were parents. After dinner Michael and Elizabeth got into the car and went for a drive. Elizabeth noticed that they were not heading back to the condo so she wondered where they were going because she had thought they were just going out for dinner. Little did she know that Michael had another special surprise. They ended up at the waterfront wharf. Michael got out of the Range Rover and so did Elizabeth. He took her hand and they went for a walk. They got to a bench and Michael told Elizabeth to sit down. Michael sat down next to her.

"Elizabeth I just wanted to let you know you mean the world to me and that I love you with all of my heart."
Elizabeth started to say something but Michael put a finger to her lips to stop her.
Michael got down on one knee and asked, "Elizabeth will you marry me?"
"Yes yes yes Michael I will. I love you too so much!"
Michael stood up and pulled Elizabeth into his arms and kissed her like there was not tomorrow! Then Michael put the beautiful princess cut diamond ring on her finger. Elizabeth looked at the ring and could not believe it but it was perfect mainly because Michael had given it to her.

They headed to the Range Rover and went home. When they got to the condo Michael took Elizabeth straight to the bedroom where they made love and snuggled together for the rest of the night.

Four days later Elizabeth and Michael were both released from the hospital. They had to leave baby James in the neonatal intensive care unit at the hospital for a while. That really sucked for Elizabeth because she did not want to leave her baby. Michael was very supportive and told Elizabeth that baby James would be home soon. Michael also told Elizabeth that she needed tons of rest before they brought the baby home because soon it would be crazy times at their place. Elizabeth knew everything that Michael was saying was so true but she knew that she could visit baby James anytime until they brought him home.

One morning Elizabeth woke up late. She looked at the clock and freaked out because she had wanted to get to the hospital early to be with her son. She started moving Michael's arm from around her but he pulled her back into the bed and snuggled closer to her.
"Michael its late and I really want to get to the hospital."
"You need sleep Elizabeth so you are not going anywhere. Now go back to sleep!"
"Michael no I need to be with my baby. Let go of me now!"
Elizabeth struggled against Michael and finally Michael let go of Elizabeth.
"Elizabeth our baby is fine and if there was a serious problem the hospital would call us. Now go back to sleep sweetheart."
"You don't understand Michael, I need to be with my baby. I am going to the hospital and you can come if you want to."
Elizabeth went into the bathroom to get ready for her day. As she was getting ready Elizabeth started feeling kinda shaky and then she slid down onto the floor and started crying. Michael heard Elizabeth crying and ran into the bathroom and saw her sitting on the floor.
"Lizzy what's wrong? Are you ok baby?" Michael went and pulled Elizabeth into his arms and held her tight to him.
"You are right, Michael, I am so exhausted and I hate that I might have to miss a day with our son. I having been pushing myself being with James so much since we left the hospital. I know you have been so supportive and I love you so much. I think you are right that I will go back and get more sleep."
"I think that's a great idea sweetheart. I love you too and you need to be healthy for our son" Michael said as he tucked Elizabeth back into bed. And then he went and got back into bed and kissed Elizabeth and then pulled her close to him and they both went back to sleep.

Later on that day Elizabeth and Michael were at the hospital spending time with baby James. He was actually gaining weight and getting bigger but it was just slow because of his premature status. The doctor said James progress was looking good and if he kept getting bigger the better chances he would a healthy baby. That news made Elizabeth and Michael happy.

Secrets 12

The next day Elizabeth woke up not feeling quite right. Her abdomen was hurting and it felt like she was going into labor. Elizabeth thought its too soon for the baby to come and I am not due for another 3 months still.

"Oh god please someone help me. Nurse Oh god" Elizabeth cried as she pushed a button to get a nurse's attention. A couple of minutes later a nurse rushed in and saw Elizabeth looking pained and upset.
"Miss Matthews are you ok?" asked the nurse.
"No something is not right with my baby. Even though the doctor said I was fine obviously this is an aftereffect of the accident. Please help, its hurts" cried Elizabeth.
The nurse went and got the doctor and they checked out Elizabeth and then rushed her into a delivery room.

Meanwhile Debbie Phelps came to visit Michael and Elizabeth. She was talking with Michael in his room when a nurse walked in.
"Mr. Phelps, your girlfriend has just been taken into the delivery room because she was having abdominal pains and might be giving birth early" said the nurse.
"Oh my god, Elizabeth. The doctor said that she and the baby were fine yesterday. So what happened?" Michael asked.
"I am not sure but I just wanted to alert you so that you would not be worrying about Miss Matthews" said the nurse.
"Can I be in there to see my child being born?"
"No because its an emergency delivery and they need to make sure Miss Matthews will be ok. The fewer people in the room the better. I am sorry about this Mr. Phelps. I will make sure you see them as soon as everyone is fine."
"Fine" sighed Michael. He looked over at his mom. Debbie was holding his hand.
"Elizabeth and the baby will be fine Michael ok" Debbie assured Michael.
"Mom the baby is not supposed to be here for another 3 months. Will he or she be ok? I don't think Elizabeth or I could face losing this child. That would kill us both."
"The doctors here are good Michael and I am sure they will do everything in their power to make sure the baby will be survive."

In the delivery room Elizabeth was giving birth early to her child. Even though the doctors had check the baby and Elizabeth head to toe sometimes things just happened out of the blue. After a short time Elizabeth gave birth to a baby boy. He was so small when they put him on Elizabeth's chest so she could see him for just a moment. She could not believe that he was in the world now but here he was and she was a mom. The nurses quickly took her baby away to get check up and put onto some machines to help him survive. Elizabeth cried as she watched them check her baby out and then she prayed that her little boy would get stronger.

Finally Elizabeth was taken back to her room to rest. She was sleeping when Debbie and Michael walked in. Michael went over to her and sat next to a sleeping Elizabeth. He took her hand in his and held it close to his heart.
"I love you Elizabeth" whispered Michael. Then he kissed her on the forehead.
Elizabeth moved slightly and looked up at Michael and smiled.
"We have a son, Michael" Elizabeth whispered.
"A son. We have a son" exclaimed Michael.
"Yes he is so little and had to be connected to some machines. I am so scared Michael. We can't lose him, he has to live. He just has to!"
"We won't lose him Elizabeth. The doctors here know what to do and we will just be there for each other and pray. OK Lizzy. I love you!"
"Yeah Michael I love you too."
Debbie sat in the background and just let them talk. She smiled to herself and knew that Elizabeth and Michael would be strong for their son and everything would be fine. Michael and Elizabeth held each other as Debbie left the room. She went to the nursery and saw her new grandson with all the special machines and said a silent prayer. A few minutes later Michael walked over to his mom.
"Hey mom I was wondering where you went."
"I just wanted to see my new grandchild" Debbie said pointing to the bassinet with all the machines hooked to it. Michael looked at where his mom was pointing and saw his son for the first time. Elizabeth was right he was so small but he was a Phelps and he would fight and be strong in the end.

Mr. and Mrs. Matthews showed up at the hospital. They went to the receptionists to find Elizabeth's room number. They headed to the elevators off to see their daughter. When they got to her room, they looked in and saw Elizabeth was sleeping. They walked in and Melinda Matthews went to her daughter's bed and sat down beside her. Mrs. Matthews just looked down at her daughter. Elizabeth felt someone sit down next to her and she opened her eyes. There was her mother and her father.
"What are you two doing here? Get out and leave me alone" cried Elizabeth.
"Elizabeth we know you are upset to see us but we need to talk to you. Please darling we need to explain everything" said her mother.
"No I have no desire to hear anything you have to say. You kicked me out of the family because I was pregnant and not married to Michael. Go away and don't come back" yelled Elizabeth.
Michael happen to be on his way back to Elizabeth's room when he heard her yelling. Michael ran in and saw Elizabeth's parents in the room.
"What's going on in here? You two need to leave now. Elizabeth needs her rest she has been through a lot today and does not need you two saying anymore horrible things to her. Leave now!" declared Michael.
"What do you mean Elizabeth has been through a lot today. She was sleeping when we got in here?" asked her father.
"Elizabeth gave birth our son a little bit ago. And we are now just hoping that our son will be ok since he was born early" said Michael.
"Elizabeth you had your baby?" asked her mother.
"Yes mother I did and he is so beautiful and small but strong. Its hard to believe but I am a mother now and I love my child more than anything. So after what you have done to me I will never do anything like that to my son. Michael and I are going to be amazing parents and help our son be the best he can be."
"Elizabeth please let me tell you something that will make you understand more as to why I did what I did, darling. I feel so horrible for what I said to you and Michael but you need to know the truth. Will you give me a few minutes of your time and then after you hear what I have to say then you can decide how you want our future relationship to work?" asked Melinda Matthews.
"Fine please say what you need to say" Elizabeth said. Melinda got up from Elizabeth's bed and Michael took her place and held Elizabeth's hand in his.
"Elizabeth before you were born, I was dating an amazing guy. His name was Bradley Andrews and we were so in love. We got serious and after a while I found out I was pregnant with you. I could not wait to tell Bradley about you but I never got the chance because he was killed in a car accident. There I was alone and pregnant and unmarried. My parents were not to thrilled about their daughter being unmarried and pregnant but it happened. I planned on keeping you no matter what. I had you and was so happy but my family kicked me out of the house and I had to figure out how to take care of me and you. I got a job and started taking some college classes and that's when I met James. He was amazing and did not care that I had a child. He thought you were the cutest thing. We dated for a while and then we got married and decided that he would be your father because you were so young and had no idea and we just never told you the truth until now. I was so upset when you told me that you were pregnant and not married because I did not want the same thing to happen to you that happened to me. Its so hard being a single parent and I never wanted you to have to struggle like I did ok darling. I am so sorry Elizabeth and Michael I hope that you can forgive me. I do love both of you so much" said Mrs. Matthews.
"Wow that's a lot for me to take in" said a very surprised Elizabeth.
"I know its a lot but I decided you needed to know the truth!" said Mrs. Matthews.
"Dad I love you and you will always be my dad" cried Elizabeth. Mr. Matthews walked over to his daughter and gave her a hug.
"I love you too Elizabeth and you will always be my little girl" said Mr. Matthews.
Everyone hugged and talked about what had just been discussed. Elizabeth said that she would need some time to figure things and her parents agreed. Michael and Elizabeth took Mr. and Mrs. Matthews to see their new grandson. Elizabeth was being held by Michael and she thought that maybe everything would work out in the end. Elizabeth looked up at Michael and lead him away from everyone. They walked over to the over side of the hallway.
"Michael we need a name for our son."
"What about we name him James Carter Phelps?" asked Michael.
"Michael I love that name. Its perfect" Elizabeth said leaning up to kiss Michael.
Michael and Elizabeth went to find the nurse to fill out the paper work for naming their son. Elizabeth announced to everyone the name and everyone was thrilled. Today ended up being a great day in the end.
